It has been several years since I started transcribing my favorite music, making sheet music and sharing them on the internet. It is so much pleasure to see others appreciate my favorite music when they play the music by themselves using my sheet music! However, I did not consider about the value of my scores (commercially) at that time. Unfortunately, some websites saw that. So, after I uploaded tons of sheet music on their website when they promised “free-to-download”, a few years later, their website suddenly changed! All of them began to sell my sheet music which ought to be shared free-of-charge. Of course, they made some money and people started to blame me selling sheet music though I earned nothing. What is worse, after I protested vehemently against them, those websites banned me and ignored my request to withdraw all my uploads! I cannot trust these website anymore, they can be such robbers because my transcriptions are potentially illegal without permission from the original composers. In fact, I cannot legally say the sheet music is completely OWNED BY ME, because of the “copyright”, and that gave me difficulties to initiate a lawsuit against those website in mainland China (and the legal system in mainland China does not protect my right, so desperate.)
Therefore, at the end of 2020, I started thinking to build my own website so that both my audience from mainland China and the rest of the world can have access to my sheet music directly. Without frustrations from these issues, I can finally return to my initial purpose of making the transcriptions! The website is built based on Hexo (https://hexo.io/) that powered by Node.js. I hardly had any experience in coding, so it took me so long to work on it by only googling for solutions, and I posted the details of website setup on Bilibili (in Chinese): https://www.bilibili.com/read/readlist/rl382502
Because I gain almost no support from anywhere (if the tens of dollars revenues per month from youtube don’t count), and I don’t find a job yet, so the process is super slow. To be realistic, it is so hard to do such a project without any external funding, but I need to emphasize that, all my works are created for study purposes so I never ask for money. I will appreciate if you can add one more view for my youtube videos, or mention me when you use my recordings as your BGM, or upload your performance that uses my sheet music. For the terms of use, I will try to adapt Terms of Use for the BBC’s digital services, which is simple and easy to understand. Please obey the followings rules:
